# Syslog

Sends a customised or default text template to a log destination on new/updated events.

Fields

* Target host (required)
* Target port (required)
* Protocol (required)
* Custom headers

 

Steps (for papertrail):

1. Login/signup to papertrail app
2. Navigate to **Settings > log destinations**
3. Create a new log destination or use an existing one
4. Get the host, port & protocol from the log destination.
   1. red = host
   2. blue = port
   3. green = available protocols
5. Any events sent to this alert will show in the `events` tab.
